Joseph Chaplin came out of the last break as one of the biggest stacks in the room. He was sandwiched by 2 of the smallest stacks.
It was only a matter of time before they had a 3-way all-in.
Stan Annis (UTG+1): {Kc}{9c} Chaplin (UTG+2): {Ad}{Qs} John Johnston (Hijack): {Qh}{10h}
Flop: {Jd}{8d}{4c}
Turn: {7d}
River: {10d}
None of the three players had anything whatsoever until the river. It gave Johnston a pair, Annis a straight and Chaplin a flush – the last of which resulted in the elimination of the other two players.
Chaplin hasn’t quite eclipsed the 1,000,000 chip mark, but he is now the chip leader.
Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/1,000)
Total Entries: 213
Players Remaining: 27
Chip Average: 276,000 (28 big blinds)
Hand-for-hand play lasted for all of 30 seconds before Paul Dipietro was eliminated in 28th place, sending everyone else to the money.
The details of the hand on Table 2 weren’t captured while caught up in watching a loud argument on Table 3 regarding what constitutes as legal table talk.
Here are the seating assignments for the final 3 tables:
Table 1:
- Anthony Maio
- Guoliang Chen
- Michael Derrick
- “Kat” Khaterzai

Table 3:

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Total Entries: 213
Players Remaining: 31
Chip Average: 240,000 (30 big blinds)
With 10 minutes remaining until the next color-up break, Nello Adducchio just dropped the Deeper Stack field from 32 to 31.
The short stack at the table pushed all-in under the gun for about 35,000. Action folded around to Adducchio who re-raised to 100,000 to get everyone else out of the pot.
Adducchio: {8c}{8s} UTG: {Ad}{7d}
Flop: {10c}{6c}{6h}
Turn: {4d}
River: {2c}
His pocket 8’s held up, and he added a few more chips to his stack.
Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Total Entries: 213
Players Remaining: 50
Chip Average: 150,000 (30 big blinds)
Chip stacks of notables on dinner break:
Shervin Golbari – 485,000
Shay Azarzar – 385,000
Tom Ennis – 350,000
Joseph Chaplin – 310,000
Vishal Patel – 285,000
Nello Adducchio – 265,000
Ramak Rabizadeh – 250,000
Francisco Picasso – 250,000
Joseph Miles – 250,000
Fred Weintraub – 200,000
Jonathan Zusman – 200,000
Anthony Maio – 200,000
Mitchell Selsky – 200,000
Paul Dipietro – 135,000
Toni Miller – 90,000
Alex Darko – 85,000
Stan Annis – 80,000
Tim Ha – 55,000
One notable not on dinner break is Joe Galazzo. Mush shoved all-in with {Kd}{8d} against a board of {Ad}{6d}{2s} / {8s} and got a call from Joseph Chaplin’s pocket 8’s. Unable to find a flush on the river, Joe can spend as much time as he wants at dinner.
The other 50 players are due back at 8:15.
Level 14 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 213
Players Remaining: 60
Chip Average: 124,000 (31 big blinds)
Hidden in the back corner of the poker room near the men’s restroom, a familiar face was finally spotted in the shadows.
Sergio Vigano was the winner of Event 10, making a borderline life-changing $168,875 in the $1 million guarantee. But by the time we recognized him, he was short-stacked and all-in – but well ahead.
Vigano: {Jd}{Jc} Francisco Picasso: {3c}{3h}
Flop: {As}{7d}{4d}
Turn: {9h}
River: {3s}
The river has been exceptionally cruel thus far in Event 23, with players routinely winning hands despite having less than a 5% chance of doing so.
Vigano said he’ll be back tomorrow for the Deepest Stack Event 24, so maybe we’ll have a chance to show him a little more love then.
Meanwhile, Picasso has painted together a stack of more than 215,000.

Chip Average: 104,000 (43 big blinds)
In this deeper stack tournament, the average stack still has a ton of big blinds. But that hasn’t stopped the red all-in button from flying around like discs at a skeet shoot competition.
Three players just bit the dust within 45 seconds of each other on Tables 4, 6 and 7.
On Table 6, UTG+2 raised to 6,500 before cutoff pushed all-in for his final 17,000. Jeremy Miles re-shoved all-in from the button for about 55,000. UTG+2 made the call.
Miles: {Ad}{Kc} CO: {Kd}{Js} UTG+2: {Ac}{Qd}
Flop: {9s}{7h}{3c}
Turn: {3s}
River: {As}
Miles’ King played, and he more than doubled up to 135,000.
Seconds later on Table 7, Joe “Mush” Galazzo knocked out an opponent. Four players saw a flop of {10s}{9c}{3c} after UTG+2 raised to 6,000. Mush called from cutoff position, as did the button and small blind.
Small blind and UTG+2 checked and Mush put out a bet of 9,500. Button folded but small blind pushed all-in and Galazzo called.
Galazzo: {Js}{Jc} SB: {9s}{8s}
Turn: {Qs}
River: {7d}
Galazzo’s jacks held up, and he chipped up to 235,000.
The details of the betting on Table 4 weren’t captured, but 77 > QQ when the inferior pocket pair made sevens full of nines on the board.
Level 12 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Entries: 213
Players Remaining: 105
Chip Average: 71,000 (36 big blinds)
At the last chip update about 90 minutes ago, Shervin Golbari was one of the eight chip leaders.
But now, there’s almost no point in doing a chip count because they’re all living in Golbari’s shadow.
A quick survey of the room reveals no other stacks at or above 200,000, but Golbari is up to about 375,000 after taking down another recent uncontested pot on Table 4.
