Katie Stone and Gaiane Petrossian have something different to talk about at the table beside the standard chatter about big hands and bad beats. The Borgata regulars found themselves sitting next to each other in the Saturday Series and soon realized they had something very real in common.
Both are the proud mothers of three-year-olds and both work to balance time between their role as a parent and the poker grind. Stone, a BorgataPoker.com sponsored pro, trades tournament days with her poker pro husband Joey Cappuccio while Petrossian, who has twin three-year-olds at home, takes some time on the weekends to make her way through the big fields. They are two fine examples of successful women able to find a way to be great parents while staying sharp at the table.
Unfortunately for Petrossian, she was knocked out of the Saturday Series by Stone in a mom-versus-mom battle. Stone is up to 160,000 and Petrossian took a seat in the big prize Super Survivor tournament.

The Saturday Series event reached Level 10 and time is running out to join the big field. They will play out this level, take a 15-minute break, and close registration when they return.
Borgata regular Sunny Patel already has his seat but he almost put a large piece of his stack at risk. He folded his hand and saw two opponents with big aces.
“I suck!” he told us. “I folded pocket sevens.”
The other hands were and
with the all-in player holding Big Slick. A queen on the flop and queen on the turn meant one player was eliminated and Patel kept his stack of chips with the fold.
No matter what happens today, Patel will be smiling. He is a proud, happy father of new baby born four days ago. Now the new poppa needs to run up some college money.

The Saturday Series tournaments are always popular, even when there isn’t a big series running. Now with the Borgata Poker Open in full swing, we have a huge crowd in the temporary tournament area. They are sliding up to 450 entries and already well past the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. The next stop is entry 563 which will top the field from last September.
BorgataPoker.com sponsored pro Katie Stone is in the game along with Borgata favorites Frank Reina, Rafael Reis, Manny Minaya, David Bradshaw, and David Jackson to name a few.
There are still two more hours left to register or re-enter so the crowd will continue to swell this afternoon.

Last year this event saw 562 entrants try their luck and it was about 4am when the final ten players decided to call it quits. They agreed on an ICM adjusted payout deal. As the chip leader, Steve Niyazov took 1st place and $25,025, along with his first Borgata Open trophy.

The $100,000 Guaranteed Saturday Series Deep Stack is a player-favorite and hey, what’s not to love? It’s a Deep Stack, so players get 25,000 in chips to play with. It’s got 30-minute-long levels throughout, and it’s a one-day event, so the time commitment is not a big as it is with the multi-day events.
The $100,000 guarantee on this event always brings out a big crowd and today should be no different. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are allowed until the start of level 11 (about 4:45pm). Play will continue until a winner is determined and another Borgata Open trophy finds a new home.
As you may or may not have heard, the 2018 Borgata Poker Open will be running in a new temporary tournament area. Instead of the Event Center where we have been in the past, BPO tournaments will be running on tables in the Signature Room, the Poker Room, and a new Tournament Area in between.
The slot machines have been removed from this area and poker tables are in. This new setup is just for this series and in January we’ll be back in the Event Center for the 2019 Winter Poker Open.
This new tournament area is perfectly situated between Bread and Butter on one side and the escalator to the Marketplace Eatery on the other, giving players quick and easy access to refreshments. It’s also just a few steps to the Race and Sports Book for those who need to place a bet and the North Entrance, for those who need to step outside for some fresh air.
Online registration is closed, but on-site registration begins at 12 noon Monday, September 3rd and will remain open until midnight. Beginning Tuesday, registration will be open from 8am to midnight daily throughout the series at the Cashier windows across from the entrance to Bobby Flay’s.
