Steve Dannenmannn was a late entrant to the Black Chip Bounty tournament and he took a seat at the front of the Signature Room at Table 1. He didn’t waste time getting in the action.
Not long after sitting down, Dannenmann opened the action and Ryan M three-bet to 3,500. The player to his left four-bet shoved for ~13,000 and Dannenmann moved all in as well for 14,800. Ryan M called with the bigger stack and Dannenmann was in trouble.
“I have a last-longer bet,” Dannenmann laughed. “I need chips now.”

The queens were in good shape for the triple and the flop seems harmless. The
turn was the first part of the backdoor flush draw for Ryan and it filled on the
river for the double knockout.
Dannenmann, the 2005 WSOP Main Event runner-up, said this was his only bullet in the game and he will now enjoy the amenities around the casino.

The second break is over and players are back in action. The field is still split between the Signature Room and the temporary tournament area and Mike Assante leads the Signature. He has 128,000 after six levels and we are checking the other area to see if anyone is near his stack.
Assante has over $100,000 in career earnings with nearly half of that coming courtesy of a runner-up finish in the 2017 Borgata Fall Poker Open Almighty Stack where he took second to Michael Haddad.

Event 3 is taking its second break of the day and the long, 45-minute levels are giving them plenty of time to make their moves. The registration count is still climbing despite the deep structure and they are near certain to best last year’s numbers.
Tournament staff announced the dinner plans. They will return, play two more levels, and take an hour-long break after Level 8.

So far we’ve had a great turnout for the weekend Black Chip Bounty event and they’ve already reached the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. That includes the regular and bounty pools and both will keep climbing with late registration available until 10pm.
It seems pretty clear that it will top the 666 entries from this event last September with player jumping in after busting from Event 1.

Another big turnout for the Black Chip Bounty has caused the Signature Room to overflow to available tables in the temporary Tournament Area.
Registration remains open until the start of level 11, which will be at about 10pm tonight, so there’s still plenty of time to get in the fray.
Jerry Callahan just doubled up to ~60,000 with pocket Queens, which held up against a player’s which had flopped a pair of 4s with an open-ended straight draw. No bounty for Jerry since his opponent still had chips.

Last September, this event saw 666 entrants creating a prize pool of $226,107, not including the $66,600 in bounties!
They played until almost 2am on Day 2 to reach the final three players, who agreed to an adjusted payout, splitting the money evenly three ways. Jerry Drew got credit for 1st place and the Borgata Open trophy along with $34,764, so he’s our defending champion.

Although the temporary Tournament Area is currently dominated by Day 2 of the $1.5 Million GTD BPO Kick-Off event, Event 3 is getting underway in the Signature room. This event carries a $200,000 guarantee on total buy-ins, up from $150,000 last year. This is the second year in a row this event has seen a significant increase in the Guarantee and it continues to be one of the most popular trophy events.
This is a Bounty tournament which means each player has a $100 price tag on their head and their $100 Black Chip goes to the player who takes their last tournament chip.
Bounty Hunters begin with 25,000 tournament chips and all levels are 45 minutes long. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 11 (about 10pm).
As you may or may not have heard, the 2018 Borgata Poker Open will be running in a new temporary tournament area. Instead of the Event Center where we have been in the past, BPO tournaments will be running on tables in the Signature Room, the Poker Room, and a new Tournament Area in between.
The slot machines have been removed from this area and poker tables are in. This new setup is just for this series and in January we’ll be back in the Event Center for the 2019 Winter Poker Open.
This new tournament area is perfectly situated between Bread and Butter on one side and the escalator to the Marketplace Eatery on the other, giving players quick and easy access to refreshments. It’s also just a few steps to the Race and Sports Book for those who need to place a bet and the North Entrance, for those who need to step outside for some fresh air.
Online registration is closed, but on-site registration begins at 12 noon Monday, September 3rd and will remain open until midnight. Beginning Tuesday, registration will be open from 8am to midnight daily throughout the series at the Cashier windows across from the entrance to Bobby Flay’s.
