Event 9 – ‘Almighty Million’
Level 32 200,000/400,000/50,000
Total Entries: 2,369
Players Remaining: 24
Chip Average: 9,110,000
With three events all restarting at 12 PM, there is going to be plenty of action to follow throughout the afternoon. The event nearly everyone will have their eye’s on though will be the Day 3 restart of the ‘Almighty Million’, as 24 players return to first play down to a final table and then, eventually, play down to a winner. That final table will be live streamed, with the hope that ten-handed play can restart with the YouTube and Twitch streams at 4 PM.
It remains to be seen who will populate that live streaming lineup but what we do know is that Kevin Grabel, who caught some late heat last night, holds a sizable advantage on the rest of this field. The Pennsylvanian bagged up just over 37,000,000, which is more than 16,000,000 more than his nearest competitor.
That is local player Brian Mantini, who resides in Brigantine, NJ and put 21,000,000 away for today’s restart. A handful of players are hovering just below the 15,000,000 chip mark, including Texas’ Miles Walker, who is right at that number, and Joe Liberta, Jeffrey Leone, and Je Wook Oh.
Those players will all return above the chip average, along with Chris Limo, who at the start of the event was hoping to make lightening strike in back to back Borgata Poker Opens. Limo final tabled the $2,000,000 GTD opening event last September and then followed that up with a win in the first installment of the ‘Almighty Million’. No one has ever done something like that in BPO history and Limo will try to add to his legacy today, as he’s still alive to defend his 2015 title with nearly 11,000,000.
Brian Hastings will head the second wave that will return below the chip average and the three-time WSOP bracelet winner will hope to spin up a stack en route to his first BPO title. Michael Kemeter’s wrist might be empty but over the last few Borgata Poker series, there might not be a more consistent performer. Kemeter has won two titles since last July’s Summer Poker Open, amassing just under $100,000 in earnings through that stretch, with those big wins looking like they have just been a sign of things to come.
Regardless of what does come for the remaining 26 players, the BPO blog will be here to bring you all the action once cards get in the air at 12 PM. Until then, here are the official ‘Almighty Million’ Day 3 seating assignments.
