The attention at the table had shifted from Jean Gaspard and Jose Serratos as the potential next player to go, to Ray Qartomy (Houston, TX), who was all of a sudden the short stack in the room with just over 1,000,000.
Well, the attention is now back on Gaspard, as Qartomy just doubled through him.
On a board of {As}{Kh}{10d} Qartomy moved all-in from the small blind, and was snap called by Gaspard in the big blind.
Gaspard turned over his {Ac}{8d} and although the entire tournament area was on the edge of their seats to see what Qartomy held, he seemed in no hurry and was busy getting a drink from a waitress.
Eventually Qartomy’s attention returned to the poker table and he calmly turned over {Ks}{10s} for two pair.
The turn and river would come {3s} {7s} and miss Gaspard, while giving Qartomy an unnecessary flush.
With just a few minutes until break, Gaspard is now the shortest stacked player in the room, with Qartomy and Serratos, just ahead of him.
