You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and you can’t cash in tournaments you don’t play.
Joe Galazzo took that mantra pretty seriously today.
One of the 31 players to bag chips for Day 4 of the Main Event, “Mush” busted in 24th place around 2:15, earning more than $17,000. A good day for most, but Galazzo immediately went and registered for the Deeper Stack Event 23, hoping to double-dip on his cashes on this lovely Thursday. (Is it lovely? I haven’t been outside in weeks.)
With close to half of the field eliminated, Mush is still one of the players at the remaining 11 tables.
No word yet on the payout structure for this tournament, but he’ll likely need to finish at least in the top 27 in order to make some more cash.
And after a recent knockout, he’s in good shape to get there. Galazzo was facing a 10k bet from the small blind and pushed all-in from the big blind with his final 53,000 chips. Small blind tanked for a few minutes before making the call and flipping up {Jc}{Js}.
Mush’s {Ah}{Ks} were way behind in the race after a flop of {10s}{3h}{2s}, but he made two pair on the turn {Kd} and river {As}.
Galazzo now has just under 100,000 chips. Not bad for being more than 3 hours late to join the tournament.
